Plot
In the continent of Atlantis, a race of superiors known as the übermensch are tasked with protecting the people, and fill up the military and police-force. They are genetically-modified cyborgs that have superhuman strength. They are a project created by the Satori, who run the government, and are based on the legendary master race that the prophet Zarathustra spoke about.
However, the creation process is not perfect, and rarely there is an übermensch born who doesn’t fit the standards. One of these übermensch seeks validation for his existence, and on one faithful day, he's allowed to leave the city encased in a dome. There, he finds a population of outsiders and a mysterious shape-shifting robot.
Creation
"SOLARPUNX" is a webcomic/comic book created by Yazmiin Nikodem and co-written by Hector Alvarez. It was originally created as a fanmade reboot of Osamu Tezuka's "Astro Boy" in protest of what the company was doing with the IP. After some thought, it was decided that making an original concept was a more productive way to pay respect to the legendary mangaka.
This project also serves as a personal portfolio piece, since in the age of AI it is hard to stand out as an artist. SOLARPUNX is not just a comic book, it's a franchise, and a display of graphic design, character design, and animation work.
Audience
Please be aware that SOLARPUNX is not for children despite the cute art style, and contains swearing, violence, and partial nudity in some scenes. Both creators are LGBT, so this comic is queer-friendly, although there is no romance. It isn't a BL or GL. It is categorized for teens and adults aged 14-21.
SOLARPUNX contains dark topics and themes, such as transphobia, racism, genocide, and SA, but it will never depict any gorey details, as these are only implied. Please be aware of these if they are triggering for you. Censored versions will appear on Tapas and Webtoon if you are more comfortable with that.
